Biography

Ezeali David Onyedika, professionally known as EldeesArt, (b. 2002, Lagos, Nigeria) is a self taught Nigerian visual artist based in Lagos. While pursuing a degree in Mass communication at the University of Lagos, David’s mastery in hyperrealism and acrylic painting delves into themes of identity, emotion, and social experience, blending technical precision with personal storytelling.

Working with charcoal, graphite, and acrylic, David transforms everyday moments into powerful visual statements. His pieces are not only reflections of his inner world but also bold commentaries on societal narratives. Whether portraying raw vulnerability or quiet strength, his work consistently invites connection, confrontation, and reflection.

David’s artistic journey continues to evolve as he uses his practice to document, question, and reimagine the lived experience pushing the boundaries of realism while staying grounded in emotional truth.

Artist statement

My art is a search for stillness in a loud world a way to magnify the quiet truths that often go unnoticed. Working primarily with charcoal, graphite, and acrylic, I explore the intricate relationship between identity, inner emotion, and the environment we live in. Rooted in hyperrealism, my practice is not just about technical precision, but about capturing the raw, unfiltered essence of being.

I am deeply inspired by the complexity of the human experience its joy, struggle, silence, and survival. Each piece I create is a layered conversation between my inner world and the outer realities that shape it. Through detailed textures, expressive eyes, and deliberate lighting, I aim to draw viewers into a moment of recognition or reflection whether it’s a shared feeling, a forgotten memory, or a challenge they’ve overcome.

As a Nigerian artist, my work is also shaped by the stories and resilience embedded in my culture. I often engage with social issues beauty standards, mental health, power dynamics through visual storytelling that invites empathy and deeper awareness. Whether it’s a portrait that celebrates uniqueness, or a figure lost in thought, my work speaks to the strength found in vulnerability.

For me, art is more than a form of expression it is an act of documentation, rebellion, and healing. Every stroke is intentional, every detail a thread in a larger narrative. I invite the viewer not just to look, but to feel to pause and find themselves in the lines, shadows, and silence of the work.
